Society of Friends Ice Message

A Message of Peace and Solidarity

At this time of heightened tension and uncertainty, we hold in the Light all who are affected by recent and anticipated federal actions in our country.

With the People of Minnesota

At this time of heightened tension and distress in Minnesota, our thoughts are with all members of the community who are affected by recent events. We are witnessing deeply troubling confrontations between federal law enforcement and Minnesota residents — including incidents in Minneapolis that have resulted in loss of life, serious injury, and widespread fear and protest. These developments have prompted calls from local officials for calm and constructive engagement even as legal and political disputes continue between state and federal authorities.

As Friends, we stand firmly for peace, compassion, and the dignity of every human being. We extend our heartfelt support to the people of Minnesota — especially those grieving loss, living with fear, or working for justice through nonviolent means.

With the People of Maine

We also wish to express our loving concern for the people of Maine. In light of statements indicating that federal officials intend to take similar actions there next, we recognize the anxiety such announcements can create for individuals, families, and whole communities.

We want the people of Maine to know that they are not alone. We stand with you in a spirit of peace, mutual care, and respect for human dignity. We hold a hope that all interactions may be guided by restraint, dialogue, and a commitment to the well-being of all.

Our solidarity with individuals and families who are hurting; We affirm:

  • Our commitment to peaceable action and to de-escalation of conflict; Our readiness to offer care, counsel, and resources to those in need.
  • We urge all who are impacted — directly or indirectly — to stay safe, to prioritize peaceful expression of concerns, and to seek support from community networks and spiritual fellowship.
  • Our Quaker community is here to listen, to pray with you, and to help in any way we are able.

  • As Friends, we remain committed to peaceable responses, to solidarity with those who feel vulnerable or targeted, and to offering practical and spiritual support where it is needed.

In the spirit of loving concern and shared humanity,

    Your Quaker Community

The Society of Friends is a spiritual community.

We believe that the spirit is at work within us, prodding, prompting, and helping us to be more faithful and loving.

Our understanding of faith is that true human fulfillment comes from an attempt to live our lives in the spirit of love, truth, and acknowledging that there is something of the divine in every person.
What we do as individuals may seem a very humble contribution to increasing the good in the world. We are after all, very much like everyone else in our troubles and inadequacies. But together as a community, we can accomplish more than any one of us alone

    Our Community

We are a small group of individuals that believe in a direct communion with the divine and that its truths are accessible to anyone willing to listen. We live as if this Divine Presence is part of our being.

Being part of the Friend's community is a way of life, rather than a set of beliefs. Friends are rooted in Christianity, but has always had a deep respect for other faiths.
We believe understanding our place in the universe comes, from the appreciation of our shared life experiences, the respect of science, and a deep understanding of the LORD.
We believe that there is something of the divine in everybody and that each human being is of unique worth, and that we value all people equally.

    Working Together

Paul was of the same trade, he stayed with them, and they worked together...

We will not ask you for any financial support. Our staff are all volunteers, and we follow the example of the Apostle Paul and perform our work, not desiring to be a financial burden to our community.
